How entrepreneurs use curiosity as their strength | Apurva Ganoo | TEDxEspoo Youth
Apurva Ganoo was a Speaker at TEDxEspoo Youth 2025!What if curiosity and creativity could be the driving forces behind real-world change? In this TEDx Talk, Apurva Ganoo, takes us back 15 years to a coastal fishing village in Chile, ravaged by a devastating earthquake. He presents us with a question that seems simple but reveals the truth about human nature, empathy, and the complexity of problem-solving: Do you prioritize a boiler or a bathtub? Most of us would think that the water heater or boiler, which ensures warmth and access to water, would be the practical choice. However, the residents of these fishing villages made a surprising decision: they chose the bathtub. But it was not for the reasons you might think. For them, the bathtub was not a symbol of luxury or relaxation after a long day - it was a tool for survival. In a region where water was not guaranteed and resources were unreliable, the bathtub served as a reservoir, a key resource to store water for emergencies. Apurva uses this example to empathize how often we overlook the true needs of others because we see the world through our own lens of privilege and comfort. This Talk dives into empathy and curiosity, and how these two qualities are essential for understanding the realities of others. Apurva empathises that entrepreneurs are often seen as problem-solves, but they can be oblivious to the struggles and challenges that don't directly affect them. It is not a natural instinct to empathize with problems outside of our experience, yet he explains that we should make an effort.Curiosity is not about asking questions, it is about understanding perspectives that are different from our own. Apurva further explores the relationship between curiosity and creativity. He encourages us to look beyond what we think creativity should be. Creativity is not just for artists or innovators in the traditional sense, it is a skill we call all development. He compares creativity to a train on a set of rails, suggesting that sometimes we need structure and boundaries to let creativity flow.At the end of Apurva’s Talk he says: “The best innovators are able to think very big and think very small. The biggest innovators are also always questioning things. But you are not questioning things because you don't agree with them. You are questioning them from a point of curiosity and wanting to learn.”This TEDx Talk is a reminder that curiosity, empathy, and action are the driving forces behind innovation.#TEDxEspooYouth #TEDxTalk #TEDxEspooYouth2025 Apurva Ganoo is a permanent (tenured) Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Aalto University School of Business. - 15:55Each Person Learns in Their Own Style | Bùi Mạnh Hùng | TEDxBTEC FPT HanoiThe talk “Each Person Learns in Their Own Style” begins with a question: why do some students grasp a lesson quickly while others struggle? The answer lies in the fact that everyone has a unique learning style and way of processing information. Traditional education often overlooks this diversity, missing out on many hidden potentials. With AI, we can now create personalized learning paths for each individual. The Two Sigma study has shown that students who receive one-on-one tutoring perform significantly better. The speaker shares about Aiducation – a project born from the belief that everyone deserves to learn in a way that suits them best. The talk concludes with the message: each person is a unique piece of the educational MOSAIC, and AI is the tool that can help complete the picture. He scored 1560 on the SAT and 119 on the TOEFL, received offers from Stanford, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, and UCLA, and chose to pursue both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Artificial Intelligence at Stanford University, one of the world's top institutions. Not only does he have an impressive academic background, but he has also spent years conducting research at AI labs in Stanford and New York. He is also the founder and CEO of Aiducation - a pioneering startup that personalizes education through artificial intelligence. - 19:19Manifestation: Will the universe really hear your prayer? | Tâm Bùi | TEDxFTU HanoiAppearing at the event with a topic both familiar and captivating, Tâm Bùi left an unforgettable impression at this year’s TEDx FTU Hanoi in auditorium D201. Through his talk, “Manifestation - Will the Universe Really Hear Our Prayer?”, the speaker sought to share the practicality of the Law of Attraction and how to apply it correctly. From the perspective of a photographer, writer, and traveler who has practiced the Law of Attraction for over a decade, Tâm Bùi delivered a compelling message: cultivating mindfulness is how we gain control over our actions, words, and thoughts. Concerned about the skepticism surrounding the Law of Attraction and its misapplication, he shared three thought-provoking lessons: 1. Don't manifest what beyond our reach! 2. Practise mindfulness everyday so manifesting can happen faster! 3. Whether breakpoint can happen or not, whether the universe hear your prayer or not, lies within you. Through this unique topic, Tâm Bùi conveyed an empowering message to the audience: No one but you decides whether a breaking point will occur, and whether the universe will truly hear your prayer. "We don't fear movement because youth only comes once. It's never too early or too late. If you want to, start today." This is one of the profound quotes from Tâm Bùi, a photographer, travel blogger, and author of the travelog "Bụi đường tuổi trẻ" His journeys and invaluable experiences in India, Tibet, China, and more have been memorable, offering him a myriad of emotions and a fresh perspective on life and youth. Unlike other storytellers who use words, he narrates through images. A prime example is his iconic photobook, 'Rooster, Hen & Dreamers,' which beautifully captures the everyday lives and unique perspectives of “special” families.
